As July comes to an end and August quickly approaches, I as a teacher, always start imagining my next group of students. What are their hopes and dreams? What are their likes/dislikes? What subject interests them the most? Who do they look up to? How do they learn?
That is always the biggest question, how do they learn best? Each year a new group of students enters my classroom, and they all learn in different ways. Some prefer visual representations, some audio, some tactile. Children do not only have different learning styles, but they also prefer to work in different ways. Some students prefer laying under tables to complete work, while others might prefer to stand. Very few students choose to sit at a cold desk in a hard chair. However, this is the option that is often provided.
As adults we create workspaces that are comfortable and functional. My goal is to create a classroom that offers students choices of various comfortable, yet functional seating options.
