Technology in early childhood has been a prominent issue at my school due to the limited resources and the increased student population. We are forced to choose which students need the technology more and unfortunately, this is a battle early childhood rarely wins.
Im asking for 4 ipads for my kindergarten classroom to promote student interaction, enhance learning, and develop 21st century learners!
My students will use the ipads to access more books through various apps for independent and guided reading, build math and vocabulary skills, and increase student interaction with technology. Not only will the ipads allow my students to engage with learning material in a different manner, but this use of technology will help support diversity in learning styles and help break down language barriers for my ESOL students.
Along with the educational benefits these four ipads will have in my classroom, they will also give my inner city students an opportunity to interact with equipment and technology that may not be accessible for them at home. My students will be required to take the iready assessment this year, which must be done online. Imagine how intimidating that may be for a child who has never interacted with such technology. I plan to use the ipads to help prepare my students for this assessment and get them well accustomed to using materials other than pencils and paper.
