Some children come to our schools now dealing with emotional trauma. Teachers are responsible for so much more than just teaching academics. Children need their social emotional needs met. They need to feel safe. They need to feel loved. They need to learn how to deal appropriately with problems that they will encounter in their lives. Children need to learn self-regulation skills that will follow them into adulthood.
The books in this project will help children be aware of their own feelings and how to respond to tough situations with appropriate responses. The sensory items in my project will help children remain calm so that self-regulation skills can be taught.
