We have been working to use our available technology as much as possible this year, a personal goal of mine, and an absolute love for the students! Our school has fundraised like crazy to support our goal of getting classrooms 1:1 devices with Chromebooks to support their 21st Century learning! Our classroom currently has 18 Chromebooks, but we are ready to take our learning to the next level with headphones!
A class set of headphones will make the difference between sort of using the technology we have, and fully being able to take advantage of it!
Google Voice has been a lifesaver to those of us who still struggle with reading, but having to go out in the hall to hear it is no fun at all. Additionally, voice text and using personal headphones allows students to hear their work repeated back to them in a private setting, as many times as they want, impacting their writing fluency! Even still, some students just need that extra quiet, and the noise canceling headphones allow them to really capture that quiet work environment! Imagine if we could all have headphones on in order to work independently and focus on what's really important: learning.
One of our standards is listening and we do a lot of listening to our teacher, and to each other. My students love to watch speeches, TED talks, musical inspirations and documentaries to support their learning. We are a high poverty school and could really use a helping hand. Won't you consider helping our students with headphones for their learning?
Thank you in advance!
