My students need the materials that I'm asking for to give them hands-on experiences that will help them become independent with self care, creative thinking, and overall learning. The magna tiles and magic brix will be used to build models of real-life objects. The art easel will be used to show creativity through design and to build words with magnetic letters already owned in the classroom. The dust, sweep, mop set will be used to clean around the classroom. The kitchen items will be used to simulate setting the table, washing dishes, and grocery shopping. The baby dolls will be used to show self care with washing, dressing and personal care. Lastly, the fidgets will be used when students need them at assemblies or in the classroom for extra sensory stimulation. The storage bin will create easy organization. The items will be used during center time in small groups while students are working with the me or paraprofessionals in the classroom on academic skills.
Creative, imaginative play opens minds for all types of learners especially those with learning delays. Time working with the requested items will allow them to learn how to work with others. I look forward to seeing the students love the items while creating partnerships with their classmates to enhance their learning needs.
The different seating choices will do just that, give them choice of comfort for a a greater chance of success. Sitting at a desk all day for anyone isn't easy, let alone for a child who is intellectually disabled that can be functioning at the level of a toddler. Your generous donations will make a world of difference in the lives of my students that will create the creative, comfortable learning environment they need for success with self care, creative thinking, and overall learning.
