Over the years I have observed anxiously as many of my students would rock in and tip back their regular chairs during class or even during statewide testing sessions. I feared they might lose their balance and hurt themselves or another student. But no matter how many times I have expressed my concern, they couldn't seem to stop. For some kids in particular, their bodies and their brains need the movement. Having access to wobble chairs will make a big difference in meeting those proprioceptive needs, while still enabling them to learn in the typical classroom setting.
