Learning to write is a key element of Kindergarten education. These whiteboards will help students practice penmanship, letter recognition and spelling! I plan to use these boards on a daily basis as we focus on individual letters. Students will use the boards to print capital and lower case letters, then they can use the blank side to draw pictures of things beginning with the focus letter.
As the school year progresses, students will transition from letter practice to word practice! Taking advantage of the different sides of the board, we can write words on the lined side and flip the board over to practice illustrating sentences using detail.
Although the the Kinder writing lines draw my attention to writing use, these whiteboards are double sided and the blank side can be used for so many other academic activities! Plus, saving paper can lead to a great scientific conversation about sustainability. I love teaching students about our environment and this can be an awesome way to learn why we need to conserve consumable products and find alternatives (like whiteboards) whenever possible.
