Many of my students do not grow up in homes where reading is encouraged. They don't have books at their fingertips, and they simply don't believe in the importance of reading. I want them to see how powerful, meaningful, and relevant books can be to their lives. I want them to understand that books can take them places and provide them with knowledge, which will allow them to anything they put their minds to. I have found books that contain characters students can relate to. I have looked for books that discuss real issues my students experience in their lives. I want this classroom library to show my students what a bright, rich, and influential world reading can bring to them.
