In this project, I will combine classes of my physics students with special education students who will collectively work in small groups to design and construct a robotic vehicle using the LEGO Mindstorm kits equipped with a temperature sensor.
Each vehicle will be designed to record temperature measurements over predetermined areas on the school grounds, including a rooftop garden area and at a nearby pond to investigate changes and patterns in temperature over a 2-week period. Each group will then graph and analyze the results from their vehicle and then compare results with the other groups. Each group will then prepare a presentation to give to combined classes about the project they participated in, the data that they collected, and the collective interpretation of every group's results.
