I am hoping to create a flexible seating environment in my classroom. Students, especially in kindergarten need movement. By implementing different seating options, along with table heights, I am hoping that this will increase creativity, focus and excitement in the classroom. After researching other teachers who have flexible classrooms, I am more confident in the direction I am really seeking out. Each student will have an opportunity to choose how they want to learn each day. Lay down, stand up, or sit down, the choice is theirs to make. With the addition of wobble chairs, I hope to engage students bodies and allow slight movement while being in a chair still. The idea is that the wobble chair will require more focus for their bodies which will hopefully have more focus for their minds. I have also included bands to place at the bottom of the chairs. For students who prefer a traditional seat, this provides an option for their feet to stay quietly busy and prolong how long they can work to create masterpieces. Lastly, if someone wants to sit on the floor but doesn't want to be directly on the floor, the foam spots allow kids to be lower down. This will help them transform into different positions as they sit and work. I want to continue to have a classroom that kids want to come and learn in every day! I am hoping that additional seating and options for work will help students remain more attentive to their work and enjoy it at the same time.
