These project materials will give my students the opportunity to use creativity and problem solving skills to make structures using a variety of building materials. They will have the opportunity to work individually and with partners to create a variety of structures. These activities strengthen math and engineering skills.
This project will give my students the opportunity to experiment with different building materials to see which work best in certain structures. For examples, when we read The Three Little Pigs, my students will make houses from building bricks, waffle bricks, and wooden blocks to see which house is the strongest. The students will have to explain why a particular material works best.
I have requested a variety of materials like blocks, bricks and dominoes to supplement what I already have in the classroom. All the items requested will be used by the students to build a variety of structures: houses, walls, bridges, robots, etc.
