My perfect learning spot is in a fluffy, soft chair with a lot of cushion. If my learning spot is not sitting in a chair behind a desk, then why should I limit my eager first graders. I want my students to define their "perfect learning spot"! My goal is to provide my students will a variety of seating options in which they can maximize their learning experience.
Flexible seating is the stepping stone for students to make appropriate choices that leads to success and achievement in the classroom.
Students spend so much time in the classroom. A classroom should not just be standard tables with hard chairs. I want to create an environment that allows them to be comfortable with a variety of "learning spot". Whether that learning spot is laying on the floor with comfy pillow or sitting in a wobble chair to control their wiggles, I encourage student choice. I want to create areas in the classroom where they can work collaboratively or independently. With a variety of flexible seating options, I can maximize the learning environment that will enhance my students' learning experience.
