These center activities will help my students with phonemic awareness which is such an important beginning to reading success. My students struggle to stay focused on a task which makes it hard to master these baseline skills that lead to reading success. The phonemic awareness centers, beginning phonics games and alphabet picture magnets will give them some independence after they have mastered the routine that the centers provide in each area because they provide a sequence and structure to the skills being addressed. They love to explore learning and this would be a perfect way to allow them to gain a sense of accomplishment without a teacher being present in their group.
