In 2nd grade students pick up huge momentum in reading! Students move from decoders who are focused on deciphering tricky words, to text analyzers who synthesize ideas and make deep connections to create meaning. In order for this reading transformation to happen, students need a library that is plentiful with books they are excited about. My students will devour books by their favorite authors, high interest texts on special topics, and engaging chapter book series. To help my students cultivate a love for reading and allow my students to have choice in what they read every day, it is my mission to house a classroom library that excites my students and draws them back for more, and more!
