Flexible seating allows students to take responsibility for their learning and make the choices that allow them to do their best. During independent, partner, and group work times students are allowed to choose a spot in the classroom that works best for them. Students are able to choose from a variety of locations in our room such as: tables of different heights, scoop rockers on the floor, a bench seat, or a desk with a swivel chair. Making sure students are allowed to move and be comfortable is important to their learning. I have noticed a positive impact on my students when they are given a choice in their seating. Students learn to make good choices about where they sit and are more focused and engaged in their work. The Hokki stools that I have chosen will help my students by giving them additional seating options that allow them to move. These stools will be beneficial for students that just need to get their wiggles out as they work. I have already seen how flexible seating options can positively affect my students. Having an additional option will help us grow even more!
