I am seeking math manipulatives for my class. These include math dice, blocks, magnetic counting boards, coins, etc. Our math curriculum challenges students, and these materials will help them reach our academic goals. Using manipulatives during math lessons and centers will help students by allowing them to move from concrete to abstract thinking. The students will have the opportunity to use these materials daily. They will be working on addition, subtraction, place value, measurement, and geometry.
Providing these supports will make the content accessible to all students including English Learners and students who are struggling with a math concept by providing a new modality to present math concepts. With the use of math manipulatives students improve in explaining their mathematical reasoning, gaining confidence, finding multiple ways to solve a math problem, working collaboratively, and making real world connections.
