I am requesting supplies to replace the supplies that were lost by myself or my students during the recent hurricane that hit the Houston and Gulf Coast region. Many of my students have lost everything and I want to help them succeed this year, despite all that we have been through in this short time.
If I have a class set of supplies, this will help them to have their supplies in a central place while their families are in the process of rebuilding their homes and community.
I want to continue with my plans to do interactive notebooks in our classroom and they will need composition notebooks to accomplish this goal. They will use the notebooks to take class notes, write their vocabulary, do their daily bellwork and store interactive activities, such as maps and foldables. The crates are needed to store their notebooks because my classroom is being gutted and rebuilt, which means we will mostly like share a room with another class and I would like to keep our notebooks and materials separated. I need the colored paper to send home a monthly newsletter and to send homework home. I have found that homework printed on colored paper gets completed and returned more often because it stands out when the students and parents are going through their backpack in the evenings.
