Hunger and poverty plague children worldwide but we can make a difference one child at a time. By offering snacks for after school or even in school for my hungry friends, we can eliminate the fear and trauma often associated with hunger and poverty.
Your donation will help kids feel fed, cared for and ready to learn! Students will know that there will be food available when they leave our brick walls. These snacks will be easy for a first grader who may be going home to an empty pantry or to a sibling or parent who cannot help. Food stamps only go so far, so fruits and vegetables are often passed by for high carbohydrate foods. As a result, kids are not getting the nutrients they need to feed their brain dendrites, the ones we are trying to grow. We are requesting apple sauce, fruit snacks, chicken salad and cookies.
