First Grade Students need to have the option of choosing the type of seating that works best for their learning. They need to be able to sit, kneel, stand, and move around - whatever works best for them to learn. Flexible Seating gives students the chance to learn using the type of seating which is the most comfortable to them.
I plan on having desks with regular chairs, bouncy balls, and wobbly stools; desks that are raised for students to stand at; and tables that are lowered so the students can either kneel or sit on pillows on the floor.
