By creating a reading corner, it will allow the students to feel comfortable and welcomed into the classroom. Having a rug in the corner creates a soft space for them to sit down with a good book.
Providing multiple options for seating allows students to make a choice. It gives them the choice to move if they're feeling antsy or unfocused. Swivel stools and yoga balls are great ways for students to move around without having to walk around or become distracted.
Placing string lights around the room creates a warm environment for the students as well as other teachers and staff. I will hang the string lights all around the classroom for alternative light sources, along with lamps and natural lighting from the windows.
