With the flexible options for seating, students will be able to choose how they want to learn. Whether they choose to sit in a traditional chair, stand up, sit on the floor, or use a KORE chair, students need to be offered a variety of options in order to find the most appropriate seating that works for them.
I am excited about the possibility of offering students the opportunity to use another type of seating. So often, traditional chairs do not allow students movement. As teachers, we are often telling students to sit up, sit still, stop moving, etc. KORE chairs actually allow students to wiggle without being disruptive and give them an outlet. Their brains are more stimulated allowing students to be more engaged in their learning. This tool will be such a benefit for my students!
I have seen the benefits of the KORE chair first hand as a parent. I purchased one for my 6 year old daughter after it was recommended by her Occupational Therapist. It has helped improved her focus at home and in the classroom. As an inclusion teacher working in Kindergarten and Second Grade, I am optimistic about the benefits it can provide my students as well.
