These books will be in the hands of the students through the year providing them with the materials they need to practice reading strategies to become better readers. Students need to be surrounded by quality books to become better readers. These books will be used for mentor texts during mini lessons to illustrate the importance of different reading strategies to the students. These strategies will help strengthen the students' reading ability and confidence within the genres. The students will also use these books during reading workshop for independent reading and responding to texts. The students will be able to choose the books they read which allows them to take control of their learning and foster a love of reading.
