My students have Autism and do not have reliable forms of communication. I have seen how an iPad with communication apps have helped my students with their struggles reaching the world we live in. My students have needs, wants, dreams, and knowledge that the world doesn't always get to see because they do not have any verbal communication. With the help of today's technology I have seen my student's brighten up with a smile that they are able to communicate through technology so that the people around them can better understand them. With the help of others I want to be able to give my student's a voice. I want them to realize that there are people in this world willing to do whatever they can to help them break into this world and not feel so trapped in a body that hasn't allowed the world to see them for all that they are. Some of my brightest students were students who are non verbal. I have seen technology change some of my student's lives tremendously and I hope that I can find a way to help reach even more student's with Autism.
