Flexible seating will allow my students to be in almost continuous motion to help them with their wiggles, but having a safe place to do so. My students have difficulty recognizing and regulating emotions. When they have to sit still for long periods of time listening to a lesson, sometimes tensions flare.
Flexible seating will allow my students to pay attention to the lesson while maintaining a cool and level head. By being able to wiggle about, they will also be able to pay attention to the lesson rather than what everyone else is doing. By allowing my students to have a little more freedom in how they work and pay attention, my students will be more ready to work on recognizing and regulating their emotions, so they can be in a general education classroom.
