We are a rural school district in northeast Oklahoma where each year an elective group of high school journalism students work to publish a magazine of creative writing, artwork, and photography submitted by students, grades K-12. These energetic publishers gain experience in writing, editing, layout and design, as well as the physical assembly of a book. Not only do they offer copies to students and persons in the community, but they also provide bound copies for the media centers. The cost of publication rises each year. Money is tight in the school system, and if such a class as this is to keep pace, it must find its own way to finance its needs. More students elect to take the class than we have computers for them to generate products for the printer. Therefore, we need two HP mini laptop computers so that all students will have access to a computer at the same time.
