Readers need books!
Providing access to a wide variety of books is the best way I know to inspire a love of reading.
We will use these books in so many ways. Students will be able to select books from the library for independent reading time. I will conference with students about what they are reading, talking about their insights and progress and challenges. I will choose some of these books to highlight with "book talks" in order to pique interest. Students will be able to fill out recommendation forms for other students to check out in our classroom library corner in order to share their favorites and encourage classmates to try something new. We will also use several of these books for subject area/cross-curricular activities, and so much more.
Each book in our library is one more opportunity for students discover something that inspires them, makes them laugh, makes them think... an opportunity to grow to love reading. There are few things more important.
