These materials will be used in the classroom so that each student will have individual supplies for making reading in the classroom hands on, engaging and fun. The stuffed animals will be used for the students to adopt a reading buddy since they can not buddy read due to 6 foot distance requirements. The wands and googly eyes are also to increase engagement in the students reading exploration. The cards, dice, dominos, mini erasers will be used to engage the students in hands on math activities without having to share materials. The books will be used as read alouds to promote beginning of the year social skills such as sharing and being kind.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their learning activities when given materials to be hands on in their learning exploration.
Many of the students entering my classroom are coming from an area where parents struggle daily to provide the necessities. I want to help make it easier for the students to enter their educational journey with all the materials they need to explore, grow and learn by providing them with also the basics needed in the classroom such as crayons, and glue sticks.
