For the typical ADHD student their brain is always in motion, but in school their body is meant to be still. So, they tap, they call out, they fidget, and they get in trouble. With flexible seating the students can move in their seats without making a scene, and that movement from their bodies helps their minds focus on other school tasks.
For my class I have a mix of disabilities but in that mix almost 90% the students have an underlying diagnosis of ADHD. Flexible seating like these wobble chairs and ball seat will also help when having small groups, with the U-table. It gives the students a place to go where I can teach a handful at a time and not have to reach over one another. All around it makes for a better learning atmosphere.
