Thirty percent of the students in my classroom are considered to be English Language Learners. Some of these students come into the school knowing little to no English at all. Imagine being them sitting in a classroom with complete strangers and not knowing what is being said to you. Then there are the students who are very proficient in English, seeing students coming into our classroom and are looking at them differently because they are speaking another language that they may not know. In a world and a classroom filled with diversity, I want students to be able to understand the lives and culture of one another.
With the MacBook Air, my students will be able to take virtual field trips to the different countries around the world to view and experience where our English Language Learners have come from.
This will help my students who are proficient in English, to understand and embrace our English Language Learners with open arms.
