Young students today are very used to a fast paced world. They have movies, TV, computers, and Internet access through parents' phones. We need to teach them the fundamentals of using technology AND reading so they can be open to the vast opportunities of learning at their fingertips as they grow.
In our Kindergarten classroom, these Kindles will be used to teach literacy through apps that review sound and letter knowledge to basic beginning reading skills. They will be useful for students of all levels and stages. It will be extremely helpful for the students we have where English is not their primary language. These tools will be a wonderful addition to my classroom.
