Having a safe place my students can go to that isn’t punitive is so important for their social emotional learning.
This time away also allows them to identify their emotions and use strategies to keep them from escalating farther. This break allows learning to continue seamlessly in their day.
The tent gives them a designated area to calm down. It is filled with various tools to occupy their minds and hands so they can return to learning. The pillows and blankets allow them to relax and allow their brain to return to a calm state conducive to learning. The clip boards will allow for personal reflection and journaling.
