The materials in this project of general use items. Without a working pencil sharpener, students create excuses. Without clipboards for hallway learning, students create excuses. Without colored pencils, students create excuses. Without a visible reminder of time constraints, students create excuses.
This project is to take away student excuses for not participating in classroom lessons and assignments. Student use of classroom tools helps them by removing excuses to get out of work.
My campus does not have wall sharpeners so we need a new electric sharpener. Students are often in the hallway working through primary source documents and need clipboards to hold their work. Colored pencils are needed for a variety of assignments and I have found the twistable pencils to last considerably longer than a standard wooden colored pencil. The sand timer is a bright visual that will remind students to stay on task as they are working through their lesson assignment.
