Students in my classroom take pride in the ownership of our space. One of their favorite spaces is our classroom library. Unfortunately, our current library doesn't meet the needs of everyone.
A classroom library is the heart of literacy in the classroom. With these new books, students will be able to select a text that is at their level. Having access to books at their level empowers students to feel confident in their reading. It sets the foundation for being able to build upon their strengths and improve their reading abilities.
To go along with their new books, students will need a place to store and display their books. These new shelves will not only be a place to store and organize books, but another representation of their ownership in the classroom. They will be able to create engaging book displays and make the space inviting, where everyone is sure to find all they need, a good book!
