Part of my students' 7th grade curriculum is Cells. My principal was able to secure some microscopes, but no slides! My students learned about the difference between animal and plant cells, but they have never seen them under a microscope.
In fact, my students have never used a microscope to see anything! When I arrived at Kramer this year, my administrators were excited to show me 2 brand new microscopes that had been donated by a school partner last year. Unfortunately, I soon learned that there were no slides - not even blank ones.
This year my principal was able to order some technology, so he just ordered some more microscopes, but he couldn't use the money for anything except technology - so we ordered more microscopes, but again, no slides.
I want my students to be able to learn how to use microscopes, and this project will allow them to use the technology that we already have. No student should have to learn about cells without seeing them using a microscope.
