Having a set of iPads in my classroom would allow my students to grow in the area of communication. Many children with autism struggle with communicating their needs and wants. More over, they can have difficulty interacting with their peers . The iPad offers many types of communication apps that allow students to communicate with just a click on the screen. Because my students are from a low economic status, many of them do not have access to these resources.
If funded, my students can use the iPads through all forms of instruction. Students would be able to answer questions, request items, and communicate their needs. Funding this project would make a huge difference in the lives of my students. Being able to speak is one of the greatest gifts that could be given to a child. The iPad would give a voice to a student who did not have one.
