The library collection of cultural books will make a difference in the students learning because they will find that they can relate to the characters and several elements found in the story. Finding several connections will further engage the students and increase their love for reading. They will have the ability to check out the books through the classroom library check-out system. The books will be available for projects, as well as, be integrated in the lessons throughout the school-out year. Some lessons to be taught will center on self-love, cultural awareness, tolerance, identity, diversity, and self acceptance. The books will also be used during times of celebration of each culture found in the classroom (ex: Hispanic Heritage month, Black History Month, Dia de Muertos, etc...). Ultimately, the learning outcome for students are to become empowered and impacted in such a positive way that they will become culturally and socially aware of the world around them. This knowing of self and others will hopefully lead them to understand their ability to make the world a better place to live for themselves and future generations to come.
