My goal is to inspire my students to be life long readers and to feel confident as learners. We love to read in K/1 and having a listening center, big book stand and clip boards will allow me to plan print rich lessons that will foster a love of reading and writing in my students. These materials will continue to help me create a print rich environment in my classroom.
My students are very independent and these materials will help them to work independently while I pull small groups during our literacy time to teach specific skills and build up their stamina.
I have many wonderful 6-packs of books on tape and my kids love to listen to the stories while following along in the book. Hearing fluent reading is a wonderful way to support new readers. It also exposes them to rich vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. I also have a great collection of big books that students love to read together, in partners and with the teacher. Clipboards allow students to move around the room and work independently in the classroom or in a small group on the carpet.
