The requested materials will allow my students to engage with letters and sounds in a more meaningful way to better support their language acquisition and comprehension. Items including sand, sprinkles, stamps, and plastic screens will allow students to manipulate and engage with the letters to create sounds and words. My students will be given opportunities to sort items by sound, further reinforcing phonemic awareness, utilizing sound buckets and trays. Mirrors and echo microphones will provide students with a chance to hear and see how they are producing sounds and words.
These items in combination with basic classroom materials (like crayons, construction paper, pencils, glue, and folders) will make for more engaging and meaningful literacy intervention. I can't wait to begin my second year of teaching with an incredible group of scholars by sharing these materials with them.
