Students this year have gone through something that no one else has had to go through in their education and my kids, with lots of help, got through it! When I see what is happening in the world, one of the first things I always think of is how this affects my students.
I want to make sure my students are seeing more characters, that look like them and overall more books that they relate to. I want to do my part to help them understand the world and everyone that lives in it better. I read to my students daily and when we switched to distance learning, I still read to them daily and they loved it even more. They not only got to listen and look at a new book, they even got to talk about with their families that were listening along.
I've also included a sharpener, colored pencils, writing paper, and pencils to help students out with the materials I know we use DAILY and will run out of often.
Once we go back to school, whether physically or digitally, I cannot wait to share all these new materials with them!
