Culinary Art is a way to teach students about cultures and history. The food and beverage industry is one of the largest and the fastest growing. As we spend more time in restaurants it is increasingly more important to teach the next generation about the demands of the industry.
Students in my culinary arts classes are from all backgrounds and have varied abilities. My goal for the classes that I teach is to give the students the confidence to cook on their own and maybe inspire them to cook for others one day.
I teach life skills but it's so much more it's a knowledge that becomes power as they navigate the world of food. We have mortified food and made it complicated. I am taking them back to the basics, making it from scratch so they can understand food.
