My science students are creative and imaginative and incorporating that into our research curriculum is not only helpful but essential for some of the students to learn the content. I teach 8th grade research. In this class we use a model called ambitious science teaching which emphasizes student centered learning and exploring about these topics.
Students are required to create models and diagrams before and after they learn about a topic to have a visual representation of their growth. The basic art supplies will give my students the opportunity to express their scientific ideas while simultaneously helping them develop their artistic skills. Students will collaborate with each other and use the paint, markers, dough, and colored pencils to create diagrams and models of cells, the internal structure of the earth and so much more. The sketchbooks will allow the students to draft their models and develop a process for creating a final product. The poster paper and construction paper, and canvases will serve as medium for students to show their models.
Our students do not have the financial means of getting these art materials for themselves. Without help of generous donors, neither I nor the students can afford to purchase these supplies. Pleases help my students get the supplies they need to learn science through art.
