Our goal is to allow at least 30 book club members to have a collection of three new book club books of their own to keep in their own homes. Throughout the year, they will read these age-appropriate books and discuss. Then they will visit the nearby historical communities with connections to the books.
We may never know how much these books might mean to a youth's life. Former students who've benefited from these "keeper shelves" have often returned to school to share their appreciation. One such example is when a young woman shared that she is now attending nursing school because of our book club, where she learned that she really does like to read.
