Our school is continually working to improve reading intervention and literacy in order to encourage a love for reading. Classroom libraries is an important part of this movement, so students have plenty of choices and opportunities to read during the school day. Part of my project is building on the small library currently in my room. Research on alternative seating in classrooms has shown higher academic performance, improved participation and behavior, better attention and focus, increased attention, and improved core posture and strength. I'm committed to improving academic performance of my fourth graders along with improving behavior and health. By donating to my project, you would be helping students improve academic performance through alternative seating options: short tables with pillows for seats, taller tables with stools, standing at taller tables, laying on the floor, sitting at a counter with a chair, sitting in a bag chair, etc. The items I'm requesting would be a huge help getting me started with a classroom library and alternative seating, and I would be so excited to provide my students with these benefits in order to improve their overall academic performance.
