The students at my school are eager to learn new songs and concepts in music every day! I work at a PK- 2 school and the students have music once every 6 days. Our budget, as most are, is limited, but we always put our students at the forefront of instruction and make the best of the resources we have. I currently have a set of 20 chairs, however they are adult-sized and not very practical for the youngest musicians at 3, 4, and 5 years old. I have tried carpet squares but when we move and dance, they slide on the floor and I fear that one day a student will fall due to their slipperiness.
This music carpet will help my students to not only be comfortable and safe, but also learn new musical concepts. By having a treble clef staff and musical notation outlined on the carpet music, I can use it as a learning tool in first and second grade as they learn the basics of music notation. This carpet will allow my students to learn music in a space that supports their developmental needs and makes music fun and engaging!
