My students are brand new to school. They're bursting with excitement yet grappling with leaving their families for the first time. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I want my classroom to be warm and welcoming. We strive to build a safe, fun, and engaging atmosphere, where we all contribute and learn from one another.
