These books and boxes will make a difference to all of my students, especially my struggling readers who need some extra help. Working in small groups, students read self selected books at their instructional reading level. Currently, I have very few books to accommodate the levels in my class. I want students to have a variety of texts so they can choose to read about what interests them.
Books, like shoes, need to fit the reader. If a student reads a text that is too difficult, it can affect their confidence and hinder their love of reading. If a book is too easy, the reader can get bored. By providing my students with a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts, they will grow as readers.
