The learning tools selected will help students express their thoughts and feelings. Each was chosen with purpose and considered to be an important tool in the learning and creative process.
With the right tools, we can all create masterpieces. I tell my students that as long as they love it, it's perfect! My list consists of tools that are geared toward helping my students do just that. The sketch books will be used to centralize and protect student drawings. Students will be able to compare their earlier works to their later drawings as time progresses. For students who may prefer sculpting their creations, modeling materials from Crayola is an option, especially for my tactile (hands-on) students.
As we move into a digital age, students will learn to express themselves using technology. Using mice will make manipulating digital artwork easier. Students can also listen to any projects with sounds quietly with the headphones selected. The digital camera is to capture moments too difficult to capture with a drawing. Students can also take pictures of creations for an online portfolio. Having a color printer available will further allow students to share their creativity in vibrant ways.
Although there are many different types of art, I wish to encourage my students to express their thoughts and feelings using drawings, sculpting, and digital arts in the classroom. This will hopefully inspire them to continue to seek the beauty in self-expression.
