I love to teach reading, and early literacy skills are vital to growing good readers! I am asking for materials so I can create fun, engaging, hands-on activities for my students that will reinforce early literacy skills they learn in our reading groups. I have created card games to review multiple levels of sight words, a game called KaBoom using craft sticks for kindergarten students who are learning letters and sounds, and Jenga to review high frequency words found in leveled text. For my older students, I would like to have them use highlighter tape to mark phonics patterns in text. In my groups, we frequently build words with magnetic letters and practice writing words on whiteboards. These materials are used daily in my classroom.
