I am exploring photography with third, fourth and fifth grade students. We will experiment with creating cyanotypes, construct pinhole cameras, and set up a darkroom to print our black and white pinhole camera images. Students will partner to share a digital camera and memory card for their images. We will use the color printer and inks to print our photographs. I will focus my introduction to photography on the study of African American photographers. Part of your support will help me build a library of books that represent these artists.
My students will use photography to document their lives and experiences. We will curate our images for an exhibit for our school community. I can't wait to see the world through my students' eyes when they begin to take and print their own photographs.
