Archery is a sport that can be practiced by all, no matter age, gender, or ability. This universal activity fits in perfectly with the ideology of the PPES PE Program. The inclusion of archery into the curriculum will benefit our students tremendously in a multitude of ways. Patience, discipline, and consistency are learned through the aspects of archery. As students develop the fundamentals of archery they experience the progression it takes to become successful. We express to all of our students that success does not come immediately. However, being disciplined and consistent they will reach success. Helping our students build self-confidence is a daily task. Self-confidence teaches students how to handle adversity and problem solve. Rather than giving up, students become more resilient and learn from their mistakes.
We cannot forget the physical attributes of shooting archery. It targets your back, abdominals, shoulders, lower back, deltoids, triceps, biceps, and chest among others. When you draw back your bow, not only do you work for several muscle groups at the same time – but you then have to hold this weight for several seconds at a time while you aim.
